    Formatting and Attachments

    Hi there,

We are busy trialliing your software with VS 2008 and TFS 2008, both SP1 and Office 2007. We are in the early stages of the evaluation, but it looks promising at this point. 2 questions...

    1) Does TeamSpec or TFS 2008 not support formatting of the actual text within fields such as Description beyond that of Plain Text formatting? We often highlight Unresolved Issues in red for examaple and/or underline/bold specific text within paragraphs.

    2) We try to include UI designs for signoff either with the functional requirements or at the very least during the technical design. Using TeamSpec and TFS is there any way of displaying these images within the synched documents? Ideally we would want the Description of a Requirement for example, along with the attached images (UIs, Process Flow diagrams etc), shown within the document for viewing/approval by stakeholders.

    Thanks in advance,

    Re: Formatting and Attachments

    Hello Pat,

Thank you for the kind words.  Let me answer these questions as best as possible...

    1. TeamSpec does not support custom formatting inside the Content Controls.  Unfortunately, for all the default fields in TFS, they are 'Plain Text'.  Any time we hit the server, any custom formatting inside those fields are lost (kindly retranslated by TFS, stripping the formatting).  It is possible to add formatting to the entire Content Control though (so if you wanted to make titles bold).

    2. This has been a constantly requested item.  TeamSpec uses Content Controls to map the specific location in the document to the specific field (on a work item) in TFS.  Unfortunately, in the first version image Content Control hosting was cut.  This is on our list of features for upcoming versions.

If you have further questions, our forums are now (once again) sending us emails for when something is posted.  So please let us know!

    Cheers,
    ~Joe
